The Normandy D Day Beaches semi-private package tour

On the 6th of June 1944 at 6:30am, Allied forces landed on the coast of Lower Normandy to start the liberation of Europe from the Germans.
Re-live during 2 days the principal events and battles that made the Battle of Normandy so important in our modern history. Follow, more than 70 years later, the same roads taken by the Allied armies in the summer of 1944. Our guide, passionate about the history and the region of Normandy, will take you to the landing beaches themselves, the inland battlefields, the cemeteries of all three principal armies, the museums and explain the stories and history behind each: Sainte Mere Eglise, Utah Beach, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, American Cemetery, Canadian or British Sectors.

Day 1:
Departure from Paris:
Our driver guide will escort you to Sainte Mère l’Eglise, first French village to be freed from the German invasion and you will see the 82nd airborne museum, you will then drive to Sainte Marie du Mont or Utah Beach. This is one of the 5 landing beaches: as The Brigadier General Theodore Roosevelt said “we’ll start the war from here!”
Then you will be driven to the Pointe du Hoc:
"The Pointe du Hoc was a vital position on the Atlantic Wall manned by the troops of Fiel-marshall Rommel ; its casemates of concrete several feet thick, contained six 155 mm guns, capable of firing on Omaha Beach and, even further away on Utah Beach at the foot of the Cherbourg Peninsula.."
"On 6th June, at 7:10 am, 225 Rangers, quite unexpected, landed and heroically scaled the cliffs 90 feet high.." "The Rangers struggled on for two long days and when these heroes were finally reinforced by troops which landed on the night of 7th and 8th June, only 90 of them remained, many of whom were wounded.."
After this long day you will sleep in Bayeux. Night in a 3 * hotel in Bayeux in Half board accommodation based on a double occupancy.
Day 2:
You will leave Bayeux to visit the famous American Cemetary at Colleville-sur-Mer with its stark white gravestones, a truly moving experience.
Also see the museum and amazing artificial Port Winston at Arromanches (Admissions included), Omaha Beach (the principle landing site of American forces), the impressive German battery at Longues sur Mer. Your tour can also include the peace memorial at Caen with its inspiring World War II history exhibits and artifacts (admissions not included).
